Hanami~ (Apr 9, Pt 1)
It was a very sunny Saturday. Everywhere in Kyoto was flooded with people joining for Hanami (花見, cherry-blossom viewing). An activity that most Japanese eager for spring-to-come.
Fish Fish too... joined the crowd. I went to Kyoto Prefecture Botanical Garden (京都府立植物園) to have a hanami with a few Malaysians in Kyoto. The entrance fee was only 200yen per adult.
I'll be posting a lot of spring flower pics for this series. Especially dedicated to Acrix, as you are so addicted into flowers lately. :P Hope you enjoy all the hana. Btw, he posted a lot of hot chicks pics lately, guys, go to let your nose bleeds. :P
Ok, here we go... Hopefully after this, you will have a better concept that spring in Japan aint just about sakura only. There are actually a lot of temptating flowers in spring...
:) The full blooming red red tulip - Red Emperor vs densely blossoming pink pink sakura - Yoshino Cherry. It was the first scene I saw once I went into the Garden.
A close up look of the Red Emperor. I prefer tulip in semi-blooming shape. Prettier~ ;)
However, the main cast on that day was definitely... the enchanting sakura.
Heee... the youngest member in our picnic that day. Sweet little Yue Xue (葉雪, literally means Leaf Snow. She came with her mummy that day.) We all call her Koyuki (little snow).
See our very messy food and drink layout... :P Taste is the most imporant thing.
Right above our picnic place, we have these nice sakura gave us a right shade from sunburn. Nice huh~
In Japan, a feast or any eating occasion will owez start with a nice "Kanpai". Heee... fish fish was using one hand kanpai, one hand clicked the button. Good skill ler~ *shameless*
This mee goreng was kindly prepared by Sylvia. Thanks gal, it was oshikatta yo! It was Patrick's hand with the chopstick. This guy just came back from Europe trip. *jeles jeles* Hey!! Where is my omiyage, you haven't give me!
"Wait! Fish Fish... must learn the Japanese style... taking food picture must owez with the chopstick scooping up the noodle. Look more alive."
So, here's the pic. ;)
Leong oso prepared a very nice spaghetti with very generous portion of seafood. It was yum yum~ until I forgot to take a pic on it. :P
The other were all lazy bums, everything bought.
Around us, group by group of people enjoying their time leisurely under the sakura trees. The breeze was bringing a mild scent of flower mixed with different type of foods. Kekeke... It is forbiddened to Karaoke inside the garden, so we have a peaceful picnic time. I still think the concept of Karaoke during Hanami is "weird".
Meet the members on that day. From left to right (clockwise) : Sylvia, Kim, Kim Siang, Nicholas, Francis (Nicholas's brother that come for holidays), Patrick (9 out of his 10 pics must with a cap), Khoo, Qing Yen and Yue Xue, Leong.
It was really a great gathering. We had a splendid time. The only thing was, time passing too fast. We have made a promise to hold another gathering again in summer time. Yeah!
Patrick and Yue Xue. See his happy face? You know how much effort he had put in order to make Yue Xue willing to be embraced by him? He tried 4 times before he managed to get her. Kekeke...
Here are some of the sakura shots that I took on that day.
Pinkish sakura with blue blue sky.
A closer look at the most abundant sakura species in Japan - Someiyoshino (ソメイヨシノ, Yoshino Cherry). Its scientific name is Prunus x yedoensis. Fish Fish personally like this species. The grand sight of this bloom-in-one-go species can really thrill and capture any heart.
A different species of sakura. Look more like an apple flower huh~ (Hmm.. maybe it is an apple flower?) Different from the species in the earlier pic, this species flower efflorescence happens in the same time with the leaves shooting out.
A less popular type of sakura. Deep pinkish colour. Yap, sakura also got rank in their species.
A branded one is such as this one. Called Yaezakura (八重桜, multi-layered sakura).
See most of the buds still not yet bloom? This is because yaezakura only blossom after the Yoshino cherry.
A deeper pink colour version of Yaezakura.
White sakura buds that looks like cute white cotton balls that stick randomly on the sticks.
Another different breed of Yaezakura. This version has notched edge for the flower petals.
Hope this sakura post give you a pleasure view. ^_^
I'll be back with different flowers tomorrow.
