Nose Bleeding

Winter is just soooo bad for me.

Every month, I go through a process every lady must go through.

Guess what? I guess my body got too much blood that it wanted to get rid more of it.

Since last month, I don't know why my left nose will suddenly bleed from time to time. It came out just like a running stream. It was like another type of blooding circle. Almost a constant of 3-5 days once.

I'm holding the blood from dripping on my desk with one hand now while I'm typing this with another hand.

Can anyone please tell me what food should I eat to stop it? Thank you.

Ok... get back to my work. My sensei allow me to pass the 3rd chapter draft to the professors meeting before let him checked. :P So, I have tomorrow and the day after tomorrow to finish my writing.

But tonight, I will have something more important to deal with.

I'll be back with pictures' posts after I finish my final stage of my thesis.

Meanwhile, just be patient with my mumbling here. :P

nose bleeding? wahlau, when i first saw e heading, i thought u were peeping at some body beautiful guys undressing somewhere. hehe!

i am no doc but i found tis off e net.

The incidence of nosebleeds is higher during the colder winter months when upper respiratory infections are more frequent, and the temperature and humidity fluctuate more dramatically."

Avoid blowing of the nose or putting anything into it. If one feels like sneezing, keep the mouth opened so that the air will escape out the mouth and not through the nose.

Do not strain during bowel movements.

Try to keep the head higher than the level of the heart.

Do not take any medications which will "thin the blood" like asprin.

Keep the lining of the nose moist: Gently apply a light coating of petroleum jelly (brand name: Vaseline) inside the nose with a cotton swab twice a day.

Counteract the drying effects of indoor heated air by using a humidifier at night in the bedroom.

Avoid picking the nose.

First Aid

Calm the patient if necessary with medication. The patient should sit with the upper part of the body tilted forward and the mouth open so that they can spit out the blood instead of swallowing. Check to see if there is an object inside the victim's nose and remove it if necessary.

Local procedure

Pinch all the soft parts of the nose together between the thumb and index finger. Hold the nose for at least 5 minutes (timed by the clock). Repeat as necessary until the nose has stopped bleeding. Apply ice (crushed in a plastic bag or washcloth) to nose and cheeks. For dryness of the nose ointments can be applied. Nasal packs are used when conservative methods fail. Cauterization (the application of a heated instrument or caustic chemical to tissue to stop bleeding) may be required if bleeding persists or recurs.

Do not strain or bend down to lift anything heavy.

Do not smoke.

Stay on a soft cool diet. No hot liquids for at least 24 hours."

Avoid fried foods like chung yau bing because recently I have had nosebleeds and I pick my nose ALL the time but I got nosebleeds after I made scallion pancakes for three days in a row. I have had a craving for many years and finally realized I can try to do it myself without waiting for an authentic Chinese to teach me. The very first one was DELICIOUS but the ones afterwards were not so tasty. And my nose bled.

I used to get nose bleeds all the time from taking too much aspirin. I guess that'd not a problem in Japan as you have to have a prescription, but it shows that something exterior can be the problem. Do you take any medications?

Fish fish,
hope your nose bleeding has subsided somewhat. Personally I havent had this experience before, so its best if you consult a doctor to find out what is happening.
Take care and all the best for your thesis.

i have had nose bleeding for 20 plus years. i don't think there's anything you can eat to stop nose bleeding, but i do keep away from chocolates, peanuts, and other heaty food. i guess it is just too dry, and when you rub your nose, or when you dig your nose ;), you can tear the thinner layer of skin in your nose. so try not to stress your nose too much

useful tip: don't tilt ur head backwards when you bleed. just make a 'tampon' and stick it in, press your nose down and pressure it till the blood stops. good luck to you!

i tend to agree with EVP, that the cause of the nose bleed may in fact be external. if you do find the true culprit, if you could call it that, be sure to post about it, for our own health.

diehardx : Salute!! Thanks for the info buddy. I think I found the cause of my nose bleeding in there. Hey, I'm not attracted to beautiful guys, I prefer real men. ;)

groovy renegade : Eee? This is the 1st time I hear Chong You Bing can cause nose bleeding. I know eating too much of it would make me coughing non-stop.

acrix : Touch wood. I think I will go to see the doctor if it happens again.

evp : Nope, I don't take any medication. I think most probably due too the dry, cold and keep fluctuating weather in winter. It is torturing.

miracle8 : Thank you dear. Have a safe and nice trip too.

cccp : I agree, my nose wall might be too thin that it couldn't withstand the extreme weather changing in winter. Thanks for the tip.

cooknengr : But Yellow Mum is so far to cook one for me ler~

primrose : Winter is the terrible time for all kinds of sickness. I used to nose-bleeding few times a week when I was a kid. But it stopped for many years already. Now it is starting again. Stooopid winter!! :(

ron : Ok. Got good info sure will benefit everyone. ^_^

nightraveller : Haha... that might be the best medicine to cure huh~ ;)
