I want a patissier

I know I seldom talk about TV show, but I must talk about this today. Woops...

Did you ever have the moment when you saw something on the TV, and you told yourself you wanna to have this kind of person as your life partner?

Hehe... yesterday was another such moment for me, when I was watching Shin Docchi No Ryori Show.

I wanna have a great patissiere, with great sense of humour, and know how to make seducing great food.

So that I can be his 1st taster for his new product... He will always have a lot of ladies falling in love with his cook, but I'll always be the pioneer to enjoy those yummilicious. Let all the other ladies eyes red red seeing how lucky fish fish is. Woo goo!! In return, hehe... he gets to see fish fish's most natural eating style. Oo la la~ lucky he.

Wah~~~ think think about it already make me happy. ^_^

Ok, back to reality.

The battle was between 2 famous patissiers in Japan. Both have supreme background on their profession. The rule of the battle was simple. Both have to think on a new menu based on certain food theme, which this time was "Chocolate Dessert" as Valentine's is coming soon. Winner get the chance to sell this new product in his shop while the one that lose will have this menu vanish forever.

So, here was the battle for yesterday night.

Patissier from the Red Kitchen. Yoroizuka san, the owner of Toshi Yoroizuka.

Here is a bit of background about him.
He went to Europe for 7.5 years to have his training on cooking world. He was the 1st Japanese to work as a chef and patissier in a 3-star restaurant in Belgium. He even has worked for the King of Belgium as the patissier to incharge of court desserts. Wellknown as intuitive patissier in Europe.

For the night, he decided to design a dessert that has a faithful yet surprisingly great impact taste. He believes that the gist to a good end product is the taste.

So he used a single type of chocolate that he specially got it from France. This chocolate has a good balance of sweetness and sourness, yet the aftertaste bitterness is so mild that it actually gave a great pleasure for your palate. He went to an island in Hiroshima, where the small island have 80 species of oranges planted there. After tasted all of them, he decided to used new type of orange that was successfully cultivated 3 years ago, named Red Madonna, which is so juicy yet a texture like jelly.

The new chocolate dessert that he decided to make is chocolate mousse.

Next, patissier from the Yellow Kitchen. Waizumi san, the chef of Cerisier.

Here is a bit of background about him.
He was the 1st Japanese that won 3rd place in the highest competition of chocolate dessert, named World Chocolate Masters 2005. He is wellknown for his fine yet new concepts in decoration. As he was borned as the eldest son in a Japanese dessert shop, since young he has been exposed to the deeper world of Japanese art in food. He is a world winner that owns DNA from a Japanese dessert craftman.

For the night, he decided to design a dessert that gracefully express the beauty lines of a lady. He believe a good product is decided by the whole look of it.

So he used four types of chocolate after he tried more than 60 types of chocolate from different countries for few hours non-stop. (Wao!! If fish fish, my taste bud will be fatigued by the 10th chocolate. Hehe.) The 4 chocolates are a 50% cocoa content chocolate, a 80% cocoa content chocolate, a chocolate with strong sourness and lastly a white chocolate with fine milky taste. He made 4 different layers of chocolate by combining with 4 types of tropical fruits (coconut, passion, mango and banana).

He decided to make a new elegant chocolate parfait.

Too bad, there will be no chance to try it anymore.


It was because IMPACT won, by a result 6 over 3.

So rule by rule, the parfait gone.

IMPACT starts to sell in Toshi Yoroizuka Feb 10 (today).

While the parfait will be vanished forever.

Too bad huh~

I love both, even from their look, though I prefer a more adult-style Chocolate Mousse. :P

The fact is, I prefer mousse than ice cream. ;)

What is in my mind now?

I wanna go to Tokyo to try both shops.

Hey Fish Fish, Kuching patissier made Orang Utan and Cat figure from local Cukolate 更有創意呢. May be you can try some and write up a review when you go back to Kuching. Not available in Supermarket or Parkson, but upscale tourist attractions carry the melt in your mouth chocolate.

I think Waizumi San's choc creation has too many flavours. Less is more...when will they learn....So Fish, will you continue to be a new-born carnivore when you leave Japan?

acrix : Well, yellow kitchen presentation does look prettier, but in term of taste, I think it might be too complicated for my tastebud.

sixthseal : Both actually nicely presented, though from outlook the yellow kitchen one looked more appealing.

julie : Not Zao Ma lar~ I think it just happened that the judges on that day are more adult style oriented like fish fish. Tee hee hee...
