I love Bun Bo Hue

Ever since the day we found out our beloved place to fix our craving for a great bowl of Bun Bo Hue Dat Biet, E and I have been trying to find a replacement. Time by time, we have been disappointed. Nothing quite near to what we used to love.

Luckily, one of E customer, who is very familiar with Vietnamese food, kindly introduced this place to him. That's E showing off his worked out arms.

Quan Hy is located in Little Saigon. It is a nice little restaurant. We didn't have to wait for a long time before our foods were served.

Both of us ordered Bun Bo Hue, which came with the vegetable plates and a small portion of extra seasoning sauce. One with a beef, pork and shrimp patty.

Another was with beef, pork and pork patty. It usually comes with cilantro and raw onion, but since I don't eat both of them, I requested E and mine to be prepared without them. Poor E, he likes cilantro and onion a lot.

However, the vegetable compesated E desire for cilantro.

We were quite happy with this one. It is definitely one of the best we have tried, still not as good as the one we loved. The price is also US$3 more expensive, smaller bowl and less ingredient as compared to the older one.

However, I really like the extra seasoning paste. It makes the lemon grass flavor in the soup stood out more. The noodle was a bit too soft for my liking though.

We actually got some homemade Bun Bo Hue paste from a friend a couple weeks ago. One of these days, E (and I) will defnitely try to make one at home, when we get our hands on the fresh good big fat noodle. ;)

XOXO, fish fish

I love Vietnamese food! Btw, what is Bun Bo Hue, is it something like the pho?

emotionalistic, Vietnamese foods are definitely growing strong on me. Bun Bo Hue is not as common as Pho, but it is more unique. Instead of the thin rice noodle, they use round thick rice noodle. The soup uses more spices and has a very distinct lemon grass flavour. Pho is a clear colorless soup, while Bun Bo Hue is yellowish clear soup.
